The tricky part, however, is deciding which Ayurvedic massage or treatment to try first.

Face Treatment – R295,00
MukhAbhyanga Stimulating Face Massage (20 mins)

Face Massage
The MukhAbhyanga Ayurvedic massage technique involves a systematic face massage intended to release deep-seated tension. It also frees layers of muscle and connective tissue so that there is room for the muscles to relax, encouraging an opening so that micro-circulation and elimination can begin and the tissues can glide smoothly over the deeper layers of muscle and bone. By activating the skin’s natural metabolism through this unique Ayurvedic face massage, your skin will be able to retain moisture better, leaving you looking younger and healthier.

There are two warm-oil-based Ayurvedic treatments that we carry out, the first is the divine Shirodhara Stress-Relieving Oil-Flow treatment and the second is an Ayurvedic treatment created specifically for the helping lower-back pain; Kati Basti.

Shirodhara Oil-Flow Treatment with Abhayanga- R895,00 (90 mins)
Shirodhara offers one of the most divine, tranquil Ayurvedic treatment experiences available. After a relaxing massage of the head and neck, you lie face up whilst a warm stream of oil is carefully poured on your forehead in a rhythmic manner. The herbal oil used in Shirodhara, blended specially for your constitution, often engenders a powerful meditative experience reflected in a sense of calmness and serenity that you will not have experienced before.

Kati Basti Oil Treatment with Abhayanga – R795,00 (75 mins)
Kati Basti is a special Ayurvedic treatment in which warm, specially medicated oil is applied to the lower end of the vertebral region, where it is pooled for a period of time. This particular Ayurvedic treatment is very effective in treating lower back pain, sciatica and neurological conditions of the lower back and lower limbs. Kati Basti concludes with a massage of the entire back. A series of Kati Basti Ayurvedic treatments is a great alternative for manipulation, and is amazingly beneficial for a number of lower back conditions.

INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE – R350,00 (20 min)
Known in the Ayurvedic massage world as ShiroAbhyanga, Indian head massage involves a complete massage of the head, neck and shoulders. From a therapeutic point of view, Indian head massage balances your central nervous system and promotes mental clarity while deeply conditioning your hair follicles and scalp. From a purely pampering point of view, however, Indian head massage is a truly wonderful experience that ensures you’re left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated; even if only opting for a 20 minute head massage!

We offer four different types of Ayurvedic full-body massage– our two signature oil massages Abhyanga and Vishesh; Udvartana Powder Massage and Garbhini Pregnancy Massage…

Abhyanga Relaxing Full-Body Massage – R650 (60 mins)
One of Ayurveda Retreat’s two signature body massages, an Abhyanga full-body massage is a deeply relaxing oil massage for the whole body. This particular full-body massage involves gentle, choreographed, rhythmic massage using a variety of techniques, including marma point (vital energy centres) stimulation to enhance skin tone and detoxify and revitalise your entire body so to induce deep relaxation. This luxurious Ayurvedic massage uses warm herb-infused oils specifically tailored to your individual needs. The combination of herbalised oils and gentle warmth make this massage a deeply restful and rejuvenating experience. This Ayurvedic massage treatment ends with an equally relaxing session in our state of the art steam chamber, which helps in releasing toxins. Abhyanga body massages are carried out by one Ayurvedic massage therapist as standard but prices for two therapists (‘four-handed massage’) are available upon request.

Vishesh Invigorating Deep-Tissue Massage – R700 (75 mins)
The second of our two signature body massages, a Vishesh full-body massage incorporates the classic Ayurvedic massage techniques used in an Abhyanga massage but with deeper strokes to clear and detoxify channels of circulation, producing an all-round invigorating deep-tissue massage. Vishesh begins gently before progressing to deeper, firmer and slower strokes designed to release physical and emotional toxins. This energising Ayurvedic massage ends with a session in our state of the art steam chamber; further helping the release of toxins. Popular with men and women alike, a Vishesh full-body massage is undeniably the most powerful, tension-relieving Ayurvedic massage we offer here at Ayurveda Retreat. Vishesh body massages are carried out by one Ayurvedic massage therapist as standard but prices for two therapists (‘four-handed massage’) are available upon request.
Vishesh Invigorating Deep-Tissue Massage

Udvartana Full-Body Powder Massage – R795,00 (90 mins)
This unique Ayurvedic massage begins with a therapeutic oil massage performed in the traditional South Indian style. A fragrant blend of purifying herbs in powder form is then vigorously worked into the body to give firmness and tone to the skin as well as nourish the outer tissue layers. Udvartana exfoliates, conditions and deep cleanses the skin; helping to extract stagnant lymphatic toxins from the body. This particular Ayurvedic massage is designed to remove excess subcutaneous fat by ‘liquefying’ and ‘burning’ it; making it highly beneficial following child birth or weight loss. An Udvartana full-body massage is guaranteed to leave you looking radiant.

 Garbhini Full-Body Pregnancy Massage – R 650,00 (75 mins)
Garbhini body massages gently mobilise the joints and use traditional Ayurvedic massage techniques to offer a safe and relaxing way to ease some of pregnancy’s discomforts, whilst helping to balance the mind, body and spirit. Some of Garbhini pregnancy massage’s therapeutic benefits are reduced swelling, improved blood circulation, relief from lower back pain, minimised stretch marks, and emotional support and balance. Please note, however, that this full-body massage can only be performed from the second trimester, and assumes that the pregnancy is low risk.
PristhAbhyanga Exhilarating Back Massage – R450 (45 mins)
This Ayurvedic massage for the back and shoulders is a very beneficial oil massage as the back is a common place for people to accumulate tension. Specifically tailored oils are therefore used to release tension and stress.
